What is GamesCast TV?

Network1 128

Currently, an e-Sports enthusiast has to check many different websites and schedules to stay connected to the various communities and broadcasters he or she follows. GamesCast's goal is to be a portal, or interactive TV station, that encompasses and embeds all LIVE pro-gaming streams. We will accomplish this by uniting, under one roof, as many broadcasters as possible.

We will not host or rebroadcast anyone's content -- GamesCast will simply embed external streams in real time. This means that all of our partner's content and logistical information will be centralized in one location. GamesCast will link those who are new to e-Sports with the plethora of already existing broadcasters and content, but will also be the most convenient and streamlined way for anyone to enjoy LIVE e-Sports.

We are NOT in this for profit or e-fame (GamesCast will have no advertising whatsoever in its first stage), and we are NOT doing this to detract from already established broadcasting organizations. Our goal is only to create an environment in which spectators and broadcasters will both benefit from the network being established under the GamesCast brand. The bottom line for spectators is convenience, and for broadcasters, networking and added publicity.

GamesCast TV Features

Calendar1 Green 128

e-Sports Schedule - 'Experts' from each gaming community will be on staff to make sure the schedule is constantly up-to-date and accurate. Broadcasters will be able to easily add upcoming matches to our scheduling system, which will export a comprehensive RSS feed.

Television

TV Station - GamesCast is based on unique code that automatically detects when a stream goes on or off line. The front page will feature the live stream with the highest priority rating. The user will be able to seamlessly preview and switch between streams if multiple broadcasts are live. Individual show chats will be embedded as well (IRC or web-based).

User Customization

Profile Customization - Users will be able set their own priorities; you have control over what streams show up on your customized front page! Filter by broadcaster or game, rate and "favorite" the shows you like, and prioritize the GamesCast broadcasters.

User Customization

Broadcaster Customization - Each broadcast organization will have a customizable show page in which links to social media, links to sponsors, and branding are your call. Broadcasters will have access to our CMS which will allow complete control over content and schedule.

User Customization

The Network - We will open our internal channels for broadcasters to communicate and coordinate with one another. We hope that the organizations who join us will benefit from the unique connectedness of e-Sports personalities, and that this unity will facilitate the growth of the industry.

Who are we?

Microphone 256

GCTV is a project originated by the EnemyTerritory.TV and QuakeLive.TV founding members (Matt "Mattc0m" Richards, Steve "GreasedScotsman" Huff, and Ben "FishStix" Goldhaber). As long time broadcasters, we have become intimately familiar with the world of e-Sports and the myriad of pro-gaming communities. The GamesCast concept was born in early 2009, and it continues to evolve in tandem with the progression of competitive gaming and the e-Sports broadcasting scene.

We have one common passion: to see e-Sports exposure and coverage grow via unification of the broadcaster-spectator experience, and to create an environment which facilitates the maturation of the industry as a whole.
